How to Paint a Fence

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

• Angled Paintbrushes
• Weatherproof Paints

1. Dip a 4- or 6-inch-wide paintbrush into a paint can. Only cover 1/3 of the brush, and wipe the extra paint off on the inside lip of the can.
2. Put your fingers on the ferrule - the metal part - and your thumb on the opposite side.
3. Begin painting each slat of the fence with smooth, up-and-down strokes.
4. Wait for your friends to notice you. They may taunt you. If they do, be cool.
5. Step back and admire your work frequently, fussing over this area and that.
6. Deny that you're working when your friends tease you that you have to work while they go swimming. Claim to be enjoying yourself.
7. Look doubtful when they want to help. Tell them that the fence's owner is very particular and has trusted only you with this project - that others wanted to paint this fence but weren't permitted.
8. Wait for them to offer you something to let them help. But exhibit great reluctance when handing over the brush and taking their payment.
9. Keep this up until the fence is finished.

Tips & Warnings

• Cheap brushes may leave bristles in your work ' spend the extra for a good brush.
• Use an angled brush to get between the slats.
