Use counters to record the number of visitors to your Web page. This tutorial uses Microsoft FrontPage 98 or FrontPage 2000.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Start the FrontPage program and open an existing web.
Step2
In FrontPage 98, choose Show FrontPage Editor from the Tools menu.
Step3
Open the page to be edited and position the cursor where the counter will appear.
Step4
Choose the Insert menu and select Component, then Counter.
Step5
Select the counter type to be displayed and the number of digits to be used. Choose the Reset option if you want to enter a starting number (if you don't want your page to appear with zero viewers, for example).
Step6
Save the page when finished.
Step7
Preview the page by choosing Preview in Browser from the File menu. From the dialog box, choose the desired browser and settings.

Tips & Warnings

  • To use a custom counter image, type the file location in the Custom Picture box.
  • You can find free counter images by typing "counter image" into a clip art or Web search engine (like Yahoo! or Google).
