How to Add a Counter to a Web Page With FrontPage

Use counters to record the number of visitors to your Web page. This tutorial uses Microsoft FrontPage 98 or FrontPage 2000.

Things You’ll Need:

• Microsoft FrontPage

1. Start the FrontPage program and open an existing web.
2. In FrontPage 98, choose Show FrontPage Editor from the Tools menu.
3. Open the page to be edited and position the cursor where the counter will appear.
4. Choose the Insert menu and select Component, then Counter.
5. Select the counter type to be displayed and the number of digits to be used. Choose the Reset option if you want to enter a starting number (if you don't want your page to appear with zero viewers, for example).
6. Save the page when finished.
7. Preview the page by choosing Preview in Browser from the File menu. From the dialog box, choose the desired browser and settings.

Tips & Warnings

• To use a custom counter image, type the file location in the Custom Picture box.
• You can find free counter images by typing "counter image" into a clip art or Web search engine (like Yahoo! or Google).
