Easter is one of the few remaining occasions where being fashionably decked out means wearing a hat. A frilly bonnet is practically a must to complete your holiday finery.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 Yard Ribbons
  • Straw Hats
  • 2 Silk Flowers
  • Sewing Needles
  • Threads
  • Scissors

  1. Step 1

Decide what you are wearing for Easter. Is it time to go shopping for a new dress?

  2. Step 2

Buy a plain straw hat, after you buy your dress, in a style that is flattering to your face. If you can't find a plain straw hat, search for one with ribbons or decorations that might be easy to clip off.

  3. Step 3

Go to your local craft or floral supply store and buy a yard of ribbon and some thread that matches your dress. Also find a few silk flowers that will complement your outfit.

  4. Step 4

Sew (from the inside using tiny stitches) the end of the ribbon on the side of your hat (flush with the base) where you want the flowers to go.

  5. Step 5

Wrap the ribbon around the crown (overlapping the other end about an inch) and cut the remainder off. Sew that end down.

  6. Step 6

Use a couple of tiny stitches to secure the ribbon on the opposite side of your hat so the ribbon doesn't move or ride up.

  7. Step 7

Pull or clip the flowers from the stem and sew them onto the hat so that they rest against the base and hide the seam of the ribbon.

  8. Step 8

Put it on and admire your handiwork!

Tips & Warnings
  • If you want a simpler look, you can affix a decorative pin to your hat instead of a flower.
  • Another option is to buy two yards of ribbon and then tie the ribbon around the crown in a bow. Then tack the ribbon down with a few stitches from the inside.
