How to Back Up Internet Explorer Favorites

Back up your Internet Explorer favorites to preserve your bookmarks if you need to reinstall Windows or use the same favorites on another computer.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Floppy Disk Drive
  • Floppy Disks

Step1
Insert a blank disk into the floppy disk drive (or other removable disk drive).
Step2
Double-click My Computer.
Step3
Double-click the hard disk icon (usually C:).
Step4
Double-click the Windows folder.
Step5
Right-click the Favorites folder and choose Send To from the menu that appears.
Step6
Select 3 1/2 Floppy (A) or the drive containing the blank disk. The favorites file is copied.
Step7
Remove the disk from the drive.
Step8
To use the favorites on this or another computer, drag the Favorites folder on the disk to the Windows folder on the computer.

on 11/22/2005 Use the "import/export", which appears to back up the favorites, though I haven't tried to restore yet.
