A stranger wields a Louisville Slugger at you, blocking your only escape route. Try jamming it!

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately challenging

Things You’ll Need:

  • Martial Arts Supplies
  • Martial Arts Uniforms
  • Martial Arts Videos

Step1
Move quickly in toward the attacker's left side if he or she attempts to swing a bat or cub from your right side.
Step2
Strike the attacker's left arm just above the elbow with the open palm of your left hand. This will interrupt the swing and leave the attacker's left side open to attack.
Step3
Continue to hold on to the attacker's left arm after you strike it to maintain control.
Step4
Punch the attacker's left side with an upward swing of your right arm. Be sure to use the strength of your legs and hips as you punch. Punch again if necessary.
Step5
Run away as the attacker struggles to recover.

Tips & Warnings

  • Always try to avoid a conflict if at all possible. If you can't avoid a conflict, escape at the first opportunity. Jam only if your escape route is blocked.
  • Self-defense techniques can cause severe injury. Be cautious when you practice with a partner. If confronted by an attacker, always try to escape first.
