When a viewer using Internet Explorer 5.x adds a Web site to the Favorites folder, an Explorer icon appears. In FrontPage 2000, you can customize the Favorites icon for your page.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Use an icon-editing or general image-editing program to create an icon measuring 16-by-16 pixels.

  2. Step 2

    Save the icon as "favicon.ico."

  3. Step 3

Copy the file and place it in the root web. (See "How to Import a File into FrontPage."

  4. Step 4

Upload the page and test the feature by right-clicking on your page and selecting Add to Favorites.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make the icon a smaller version of your logo or an image that readily identifies you to the user.
  • If you make an existing image into an icon, make sure it is viewable as an icon.
  • This feature only works with Internet Explorer 5.0 and above.
