FrontPage 2000 makes creating and inserting a banner ad super easy with the Banner Ad Manager.

Difficulty: Moderately challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Start the FrontPage program and open the appropriate web.

  2. Step 2

Open the page the banner will be located on.

  3. Step 3

Click on the Insert menu and choose Component. Select Banner Ad Manager.

  4. Step 4

Choose the height and width of the banner. Keep it in proportion to the rest of the Web page.

  5. Step 5

Select the effects you wish to see in the banner ad. Choose None for a static banner; the remaining options are for animation.

  6. Step 6

Type the URL the banner will link to in the Link To box, or click Browse to select the link address.

  7. Step 7

Add the images that will appear on the banner. For banners using animation, add multiple images and change the order to achieve the desired effect.

  8. Step 8

Click OK and save the page when finished.

  9. Step 9

Preview the page by choosing Preview in Web Browser from the File menu and selecting the desired browser.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure the banner is small enough that it doesn't irritate or annoy visitors but will grab their attention. Some users will click out of a site if the banner annoys them too much.
  • Use graphics and animation sparingly in banners. Remember that the larger and more frequently appearing graphics contribute heavily to the page's download time, plus, they will distract viewers from your own page content.
  • When uploading the Web page to your ISP, be sure to include all of the images used in the banner.

on 11/22/2005 in order to keep your web page from becoming a battle field, banners flying off the page, etc., may i suggest you:

1-highlight: TARGET="_BLank"

2-delete

i've taken a step further and have deleted from the space preceeding Target to the end (>) of "onmouse..." string! my banners pop me into their pre-designated web pages but these "cleaned" banners are more secure now than ever. i have near two hundred on one site: www.ctsaffiliateprograms.com

best of luck, ctwebb.
