Clean, sharp turns are the key to a good slalom run. The two-handed turn will help keep you right on course.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Grip the handle in the baseball bat grip (one hand over, one hand under).

  2. Step 2

Cut hard to the right as you enter the turn by leaning back and pulling the rope handle toward your left hip.

  3. Step 3

Stop cutting when you are almost at a 45-degree angle from the boat.

  4. Step 4

Flatten out your board on the water by leaning slightly forward and ceasing to pull the rope toward your hip.

  5. Step 5

Coast just before you reach the buoy, and gradually transfer your weight to your left (outside) knee.

  6. Step 6

Lean back and slightly left as you pass around the slalom buoy.

  7. Step 7

Turn back toward the wake and pull hard against the rope toward your right hip to accelerate out of the turn.

Tips & Warnings
  • Go into your turn slowly, and pull hard against the boat only after you feel the inside rail of your board start to catch on the water.
  • Put all your weight on your inside leg and pull the rope toward your opposite hip to avoid side-sliding out of your turn.
  • Always wear a life vest and observe proper boating safety when kneeboarding.
  • Kneeboarding is an inherently dangerous activity. Please seek proper training and equipment before attempting this activity.
