Spinning one-and-a-half rotations and landing backward is one of the most advanced spins you can do on your kneeboard. Before you attempt the 540, though, be sure you've mastered the 180 and 360 spins.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Ride directly behind the boat holding the handle with your palms down.
Step2
Pull the handle toward your right hip as you turn your head and torso to the left. Keep your eyes on the horizon to keep your head up.
Step3
Release your left hand, but keep the handle close to your lower back, leaning against the pull of the boat as you turn 180 degrees to a backward riding position.
Step4
Grab the handle with your left hand behind your back, leaning your weight slightly over the nose of your board.
Step5
Let go of the rope with your right hand as you continue to turn to the left with your head and torso.
Step6
Shift your weight from the nose to the tail, leaning against the pull of the boat as you do and keeping the rope close to your body.
Step7
Grab the handle in front of you with your right hand while releasing it with your left.
Step8
Keep turning with your head and torso to the left while pulling the handle toward your right hip.
Step9
Lean forward to transfer the weight from tail to nose and grab the handle behind your back with your left hand.
Step10
Continue riding backward.

Tips & Warnings

  • Try to hold the handle in the same place each time you attempt the trick so that your free hand won't have to search for it.
  • Work on making this trick one continuous motion.
  • Once you can smoothly do a 540, it's not that hard to add an extra 180 and do a 720.
  • Always wear a life vest and observe proper boating safety when kneeboarding.
  • Kneeboarding is an inherently dangerous activity. Please seek proper training and equipment before attempting this activity.
