How to Weather Proof Glow in the Dark Paint

Keep your glow in the dark paint from wearing away by weather-proofing it.

Glow in the dark paint is a very useful material. You can use it to mark the posts at the side of your driveway if it is on an incline, for signs that need to be visible at night or for many other outside projects. Unfortunately, if you do not apply the correct type of glow in the dark paint and if you do not treat the paint properly, it will soon succumb to weather and fade and flake away.

Wash the area clean with a cloth and soapy water. Dry the area well with a towel.

Rough up the surface by rubbing it with sandpaper. This will give the paint a better surface to bond to, preventing it from easily flaking off over time.

Paint waterproof glow in the dark paint onto the object. Apply the paint in an even, back and forth motion if applying with a brush. Spray the paint on in an even and thin coat if using spray paint. Let the paint dry. Apply one more thin coat. Let it dry.

Apply weather and waterproof varnish or paint sealant over the glow in the dark paint using a spray can. Apply in an even back and forth motion. Let it dry. Apply one more coat.
