Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Purchase glitter or glitter glue. Glitter glue contains glue with glitter in it in one tube, which eliminates the glueing step and is less messy.

  2. Step 2

Choose various colors for Valentine's Day - red, pink, silver, blue and gold are all available at craft supply shops.

  3. Step 3

Use regular, white school glue or a tacky craft glue to make your glitter stick.

  4. Step 4

Create your Valentine out of card stock or construction paper and add to it with ribbon, lace or other materials. Write your inside message. An idea that ties in with the glitter is "Valentine, my heart glitters at the thought of you."

  5. Step 5

Look at the front of your card and decide how you can best incorporate glitter.

  6. Step 6

Draw outlines of hearts and words with a pencil.

  7. Step 7

Squeeze some glue along the outlines. Sprinkle some glitter over them, completely covering the glue.

  8. Step 8

Allow the glue to dry. Gently shake excess glitter from the card.

  9. Step 9

Try filling in small hearts or other designs completely with glitter.

  10. Step 10

Cover the entire front of the card with a dusting of glitter if you wish. Use a paintbrush and lightly brush small amounts of glue over the entire cover. Sprinkle glitter over it, leaving some spaces visible. Allow it to dry. Shake the excess off.

  11. Step 11

Add some glitter to the inside of your card using these ideas as well. Be sure the glue is completely dry before closing the card or it will stick together.

on 1/18/2009 Thanks for the article. I had totally forgotten about using glitter glue and I already have some on hand. This is the second article that I read on making Valentines with kids and both mention using card stock. Good idea!
