Things You'll Need:
- Kitchen Scales
- Measuring Cups
- Measuring Spoons
- Measuring cups
-
Step 1
Measure teaspoon and tablespoon measurements with a set of standard measuring spoons. Serving teaspoons aren't the same as a measuring teaspoon.
-
Step 2
Make sure ingredients are leveled off and even with the rim of the spoon.
-
Step 3
Use the same set of measuring spoons each time; precise sizes vary among manufacturers.
-
Step 4
Measure cup measurements with a set of standard dry measuring cups. (Liquid measuring cups have a spout; dry measuring cups have an even rim.)
-
Step 5
Make sure ingredients are level with the rim of the cup.
-
Step 6
Unless specified in a recipe, cup measurements should be unsifted.
-
Step 7
Use the same cups every time. Cup measurements are supposed to be standardized, but precise sizes vary among manufacturers.
-
Step 8
Carefully clean spoons and cups after each use.
-
Step 9
Measure dry ingredients for baking recipes with a kitchen scale, if possible. Due to the settling of flour and other ingredients, weighing is the most accurate measurement.
