If you want to send a Valentine's Day greeting that will get there in a hurry ' and won't cost anything at all ' consider an online valentine.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Search for an online greeting card site that you like. There are many different types of sites out there - look for one that is free to use, if possible, and that offers a selection of greetings in a style you enjoy.

  2. Step 2

Register with the site, if necessary - most online card sites require you to go through a basic registration process before they will send a card for you.

  3. Step 3

Choose the valentine that you want to send. There will probably be quite a lot to choose from, so allow some time for this, especially if you have a slow Internet connection.

  4. Step 4

Write and edit the message you want to send. Most online greeting card sites give you a chance to preview your message before you send it, so you can correct or delete anything you want to.

  5. Step 5

Customize your card in other ways, if you like. Some sites allow you to add various background colors or ornamental borders to your cards, as well as famous quotations and even music clips in some cases.

  6. Step 6

Include your name and e-mail address, in case the recipient wants to send you a card in return.

  7. Step 7

Choose the date on which you want the card to be sent - many sites will let you send the card on a specific date, though you always have the option of sending immediately.

  8. Step 8

Check the appropriate box to receive e-mail notifying you when the recipient has viewed your greeting.

  9. Step 9

Remember to preview the results before sending.

  10. Step 10

Follow the site's directions to save and send your greeting. Then just wait for your valentine to check his or her e-mail.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you want to send a card anonymously, you may be able to do this by opening a free web-based e-mail account under a pseudonym.
  • Some sites offer cards in a variety of languages, so you can send greetings to your friends around the world.
  • Some greeting card sites allow you to use your own photos as part of the greeting ' you just have to be able to upload the photo, then the rest of the process works the same way as a normal online card.
  • Most online greeting sites will not let you send a card unless you give them some personal information, so check the privacy policy carefully before you sign up.
  • Make sure your recipient's computer can handle the card you are sending ' some older or slower computers may have a hard time with Java applets or MIDI files, for example.
