Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Go to sites like Amazon.com or Half.com to sell used books, CDs and other items at a fixed price. You can list items in exchange for a percentage of the sale. Avoid sites that charge a fee for posting an ad.
Step2
List items that are hard to ship (garden furniture, a pool table, a futon) on sites such as CraigsList.org or in regional online classifieds, so that the buyer can pick them up in person.
Step3
Use auction sites to sell valuable collectibles, antiques and outof- print books to the highest bidder.
Step4
Set up an online store. Check out Amazon.com, eBay.com and Yahoo Shopping (shopping.yahoo.com) for turnkey solutions to building an online store for a monthly fee. The bonus is that you tap into the heavy traffic of these popular sites and take advantage of their search engines.
Step5
Contact a company like Bidadoo.com, which can sell your stuff on eBay for you in exchange for a percentage of the selling price. These businesses edit and upload your photos and come up with the right bidding price after researching what similar items go for.

on 12/2/2007 Thanks for the information. I run my own ebay store and enjoy the sale without all the headache daily. Once your established it is not nearly as time consuming as when you start. You have some good resources here. Write on.

on 9/30/2007 one alternative for selling items for Free is to use www.digzag.com. Their user interface is very user friendly and they allow you to sell things nationally or locally. Their site is much easier and has more features than craigslist and there is no better price than FREE.
