on 9/5/2006 Even with a international calling plan, calling a cell phone in Japan is very expensive. The government charges the caller extra taxes that are passed on through the callers phone bill. With a 10 cent plan, calling a cell phone will be 35 cents (2006 rates), so be careful and call a land line whenever possible.
