How to Make Roasted Fish

Great for dinner parties and hungry, healthy families. Serves 4.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • knife
  • basting brushes
  • 3 tbsp. melted unsalted butters
  • large glass baking dishes
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 4-5 lb whole, cleaned seabass

  • 3 tbsp. melted unsalted butters
  • 1 4-5 lb whole, cleaned seabass
  1. Step 1

    Preheat an oven to 425 degrees F. Oil a baking dish large enough to fit the entire fish.

  2. Step 2

    Season the fish lightly with salt and pepper.

  3. Step 3

    Bake the fish 8 to 10 minutes per inch of thickness, or about 40 minutes.

  4. Step 4

    Baste the fish once or twice with melted butter.

  5. Step 5

    Test for doneness. Make a slit near the bone with a knife and see if the fish is flaky and cooked through.

Tips & Warnings
  • Try stuffing the fish with a combination of sautéed onions, celery, bread crumbs, parsley and marjoram.
  • Substitute snapper for sea bass, if desired.
