With the Internet Setup Assistant, setting up your Mac for the Web is fast and painless.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Internet Service Providers
  • Macintosh Computers
  1. Step 1

Choose the Internet Setup Assistant from the Apple menu (the little apple in the upper-left corner of your screen). It may open automatically when you first start up your Mac.

  2. Step 2

Choose whether you want to set up a new account or transfer settings from an old account.

  3. Step 3

Answer the assistant's questions to set up your ISP. If you're setting up a completely new account, the assistant will give you a list of ISPs to choose from and set up your computer automatically. If you're transferring settings, the assistant will prompt you for the information it needs to set up the account on your new computer.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you're transferring settings, you can either get the information the assistant will ask you for from the Internet Options control panel on a Windows computer or the PPP and TCP/IP control panels on a Mac. See the Related eHows for more on transferring settings.
