Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Car Parts
  1. Step 1

Attend car shows and ask owners of show cars to recommend a shop that can upgrade engines for shows.

  2. Step 2

Check car dealerships and ask them to recommend shops that can upgrade engines.

  3. Step 3

Review the specialty car magazines for ads.

  4. Step 4

Look in the yellow pages if nothing else works.

  5. Step 5

Call the shops and find out whether they do stock rebuilds and replacements or use only show materials.

  6. Step 6

Ask whether the shop has a variety of sources for the parts they may need to do the work. If you want your car to stay original, the shop needs to know where to find original engine parts. Sometimes they may have to deal with out-of-state sources.

  7. Step 7

Choose two to three shops you can investigate.

  8. Step 8

Ask to see photos of the shop's work, and get the sales representative to explain the photos.

  9. Step 9

Choose the shop with which you are most comfortable.
