Step 1
Decide between the traditional gift and the contemporary for the first anniversary of your marriage. When shopping for a couple, keep both partners in mind.
-
Step 2
Try to think creatively, not literally.
-
Step 3
Shop successfully for a couple by asking around for insight into their taste and style, if you don't know them well.
-
Step 4
Consider the following paper gifts, if you opt for a present from the traditional list: engraved stationery, a book, a scrapbook, a newspaper or magazine subscription, or even a tree to plant in the backyard.
-
Step 5
Interpret clocks to mean watches, calendars, weekend getaways, babysitting, maid or chef services, or a grandfather or mantel clock.
-
Step 6
Consider a more unconventional purchase. Think of something they wanted but didn't get for a wedding gift, or something fun that would enhance their marriage, such as rock-climbing lessons.

on 4/13/2009 For husbands trying to find the perfect present for that First Wedding Anniversary, Paper, is not easy. A sketch of her wedding dress on heavy ivory paper will be a wonderful keepsake and will also show your romantic side. And for those of you husbands with many years of bliss...present your wife with an intimate and personal gift that can be cherished forever. www.MyDreamlines.com

on 9/22/2008 I got an anniversary gift from my husband which I can never forget. Without telling me, he got a bunch of pictures from our dating days and got a beautiful video made from them. It was perfectly synchronized to music and because it was professionally made, the results were awesome! It was so romantic and touching, both of us cried for a while watching those moments come alive on the screen!! He got the DVD done at http://www.smilingsnaps.com and I think it wasn't expensive either, considering that everything was custom-made.

on 5/10/2008 A couple just requested one of my hand cut papercuttings for their first anniversary- what a great idea for a traditional "paper" anniversary!

Since my first anniversary is coming up I thought I'd look it up to see what other people chose to buy
