Combat the damage of chemical treatments, coloring, heat styling and environmental pollution by deep-conditioning your hair on a regular basis. This will help replenish lost moisture and keep locks shiny and resilient.

From Quick Guide: Women's Guide to Grooming
Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Assess your hair's needs and the time you have available. Different formulas offer different levels of conditioning, and treatment time can range from 2 to 60 minutes.

  2. Step 2

Select a formula that best suits you, then consult your stylist to insure that the conditioner you've chosen will not interfere with your color treatment.

  3. Step 3

Shampoo your hair. Towel dry, absorbing all excess moisture.

  4. Step 4

Place a quarter-size amount of conditioner in the palm of your hand. Use more conditioner for longer hair.

  5. Step 5

Rub hands together gently to distribute conditioner.

  6. Step 6

Begin at the hairline and apply conditioner from forehead to ends. Comb through hair for even distribution, applying a little extra to the ends of long tresses.

  7. Step 7

Massage scalp and relax for the time indicated.

  8. Step 8

Rinse thoroughly and style as usual.

Tips & Warnings
  • For a quick deep-conditioning in the shower, gently squeeze any excess water from your hair and distribute the conditioner evenly throughout your hair. Shave your legs or suds your body to give the conditioner time to work.
  • For a spa-like experience, light a candle and draw a bath prior to the application of conditioner. Clip your hair up or tuck it under a shower cap and relax in the tub for 20 minutes.

on 8/6/2008 oil scalp and hair with oil of your choice. coconut and olive oils are good, rich hair oils. wrap hair in plastic bag or shower cap. leave on for a couple of hours or overnight, if possible. shampoo out in the morning with mild shampoo or preferably a liquid castile soap. dr. bronner's almond is good (dilute 2 ounces soap in 6 ounces water). you won't need to follow up with a conditioner. to keep ends moisturized, smooth a little jojoba oil (a wonderful, light conditioning oil) onto the last few inches of your hair. that's it!

on 7/28/2008 My sister is married to a Hindu lovely gentleman. She embrasses some of the traditional methods (you know how beautiful Indian woeman's hair is). She either uses a mix of Olive Oil and egg and leaves the whole day; or Coconut Oil and leaves in hair overnight. Her hair is absolutely beautiful, Healthy and Shiny!!

on 8/8/2006 You can wash your hair with some vinegar (watered down 1:3). It will smell a bit, but it really makes your hair very strong. Do it once a week for 6 months and you will see big time results for your effort. Vinegar cannot damage your hair.

on 8/8/2006 Using mineral water for your final rinse works wonders for encouraging softness and shine. Rain water gives fabulous results too.
