Weed knives are invaluable for digging weeds from the soil and between cracks in sidewalks and driveways. But the hard surface of concrete can cause the metal blade to become dull very quicky, reducing the tool's capability of doing its job properly. Here's how to sharpen the tiny blade.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Use a small, flat metal file to sharpen the weed knife.

  2. Step 2

Sharpen the inside edges of the forked blade.

  3. Step 3

Place the file at a 45-degree angle on the edge of the blade.

  4. Step 4

Keep the file at the same angle and sharpen in only one direction, not back and forth. A few passes with the file should make a sharp cutting edge.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can also use a sharpening stone, but it will take much longer than with a metal file.
  • Sharpen the weed knife frequently while working in concrete or rocky soil. Hard surfaces will quickly dull even the sharpest blade.
