How to Start Your Own Chat Room in America Online

No interest in the chat rooms you find online? Fix that problem by starting your own. It's easy!

Things You’ll Need:

• Internet Access
• Computers
• America Online

1. Sign on to AOL.
2. Click People in the toolbar.
3. Choose Start Your Own Chat from the menu.
4. Select Member Chat if you want to have a room that's listed for other members to see.
5. Select Private Chat if you want an unlisted chat room that only people you tell will know about.
6. Type a name for your chat room.
7. Click Go Chat. That's it!

Tips & Warnings

• Start a private chat room and have your friends "meet" there so you can all talk.
• Name your chat room well, if it's a public one, so people will be able to find it. Be specific. "Beanie Baby Beginning Collectors Chat" is much better than "Beanies!"
• Don't swear or use nasty language in a chat room anybody can enter.
