How to Use the Spell Checker on WebTV

Before you send that e-mail, make sure you didn't spell any words wrong.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • WebTV
  • Televisions
  • Internet Access
  1. Step 1

    Go to the Home screen.

  2. Step 2

    Click on Mail.

  3. Step 3

    Click on Write.

  4. Step 4

    Type your e-mail message.

  5. Step 5

    Click on Spelling when you're finished.

  6. Step 6

    Look at the word that appears in the Possible Misspelling box.

  7. Step 7

    Click on one of the words in the Suggested Corrections list if the right one is there.

  8. Step 8

    If none of the words from the list are correct, erase the word and type the correct one, then click Change.

  9. Step 9

    Choose Skip Word if you want the word left the way you spelled it originally.

  10. Step 10

    Click Done.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can also save a word the spell checker doesn't recognize by clicking Remember. The next time, it won't be marked as a misspelling. (This is useful for proper names, foreign words and slang.)
  • Some words that are grammatically incorrect but are correctly spelled (your, you're) may not be caught by the spell checker.
