Guestbooks allow visitors to leave messages, comments and virtual signatures on your Web site. FrontPage 2000 has a Guestbook template you can pop into your site in seconds.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Start the FrontPage program and open an existing web.
Step2
From the File menu, choose New.
Step3
In the dialog box that appears, select Guest Book. Click OK. The guestbook template page appears.
Step4
Make any changes you want using the format options. (For example, you might want to change the fonts and colors to match the rest of your site.)
Step5
Save the page when finished.
Step6
Preview the page in a Web browser by choosing Preview in Browser from the File menu. From the dialog box, choose which browser to use and what settings.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use a graphic, such as a small book, to link to your guestbook to the rest of the site.
  • Your guests' comments on your site are stored in a file called "guestlog.htm." You can transfer this file from your Web server back to your computer at any time, edit it and transfer it back.
  • Be sure to add any necessary disclaimers to your guestbook and warn guests that their messages will appear at your discretion.
