How to Set Page Margins on a Web Page With FrontPage

Changing the default margins on a Web page is easy with FrontPage 97, Microsoft's simple Web design program.

Instructions

      Start the FrontPage program and open an existing web. (See "How to Begin a Web Site with FrontPage" in the Related eHows.)

      Choose Show FrontPage Editor from the Tools menu, or click on the FrontPage Editor icon on the toolbar.

      Open the page to be edited.

      Choose Page Properties from the File menu and select the Margins tab.

      Check the Specify Top Margin tab and change the value from the default 16 pixels.

      Check the Specify Left Margin tab to change the value from the default 12 pixels. Click OK.

      Save the page when finished.

      Preview the page in a Web browser by choosing Preview in Browser from the File menu. From the dialog box, choose which browser to use and what settings.

Tips & Warnings

  • A Web page expands and contracts to fill the browser window. Increase the margin pixels to "pad" your page, adding more white space around the page components. Decrease the margin pixels to make components fall into the closest space to the edge of the page.
