You can add video clips to your Web page using FrontPage 2000, Microsoft's simple Web editing program.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Start the FrontPage 2000 program and open an existing web.

  2. Step 2

Open the page that will contain the video and position the cursor at the point of insertion.

  3. Step 3

Click on Insert from the menu bar and choose Picture, then Video.

  4. Step 4

Insert a video from the current web by choosing it from the Browse box. Click OK.

  5. Step 5

Insert a video from your hard drive by clicking the Select a File button (it resembles a file folder with a magnifying glass). Click Browse to locate the file and choose OK.

  6. Step 6

Add a video from the Internet by clicking on the World Wide Web button (it resembles a globe with a magnifying glass) or by typing the URL (Web address) where the video is located. Click OK.

  7. Step 7

Double-click on the Video box to change its properties.

  8. Step 8

Use the Image Source box on the General tab to add an image to represent the video on the page.

  9. Step 9

    Click the Video tab.

  10. Step 10

Choose the repeat rate to determine how many times the video will loop. Check Forever to have the video replay continually.

  11. Step 11

Change the loop delay value to set the amount of time between each repeat.

  12. Step 12

Use the Start section to establish when the video will start. Check On File Open to make the video start when the user clicks on it. Check On Mouse Over to make the video start when the user's mouse moves over it.

  13. Step 13

Use the Appearance tab to change the video's formatting options.

  14. Step 14

    Save the page when finished.

  15. Step 15

Preview the page by choosing Preview in Browser from the File menu. From the dialog box, choose which browser to use and what settings.

Tips & Warnings
  • It's best to add files to the web before adding them to a page (see "Import a File Into FrontPage" in the Related eHows). This step ensures that all necessary files are uploaded to the Web when you publish the site. (If you use a file from your hard drive, you will have to remember to transfer it.)
  • In FrontPage 97, choose Video from the Insert menu and click on different tabs to import video files from different locations (the web, your hard drive, the Internet).
  • Use small videos or compressed video files to keep the file size down.
  • Ask permission before using files or videos that you did not create or that aren't specifically marked for free use.
