In today's world it seems like everything is in small print, and many of us work long hours staring at a computer screen. We can give our eyes a rest by choosing a large-print Bible.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Bible Map Insert
  • Biblia Compacta Con Referencias De Letra Grande
  • Holy Bible (King James Version) (Large Print)
  • Holy Bible NIV (Large Print)
  • Large Print King James Version Bible
  • The Book
  • The First Step Bible (Large Print)
  • Ultrathin Large Print Reference:NAS
  1. Step 1

Begin by looking at large-print Bibles in the version or translation that you prefer.

  2. Step 2

Choose the size of the type. Texts come in 12-, 14-, 15-, 16-, and 18-point sizes termed large or giant.

  3. Step 3

Check out the number of pages in the Bible, the size of the book, and the thickness of the paper. A large-print Bible may be larger and heavier than is comfortable to hold, or the paper may be too thin to handle and not durable.

  4. Step 4

Select a sturdy cover and binding. A binding that is sewn instead of glued will last longer.

  5. Step 5

Look throughout the Bible to make sure the dictionary, concordance, and reference sections are in large print as well and easy to read.

  6. Step 6

Decide if the maps and charts included in the Bible will be large enough for you. You can purchase a map insert to include in your Bible that will fold out into larger-sized maps.

Tips & Warnings
  • A visually impaired person might appreciate a large-print Bible, biblical study guide or reference book. These can be found for many versions and languages.
  • Large-print Bibles cost, in general, between $15 and $30, though those with a lower-quality paper can be less expensive and leather-bound Bibles will be more costly.
  • Some Bibles are printed in 6-point type. Therefore, 12-point type, which is a standard size for much of our everyday reading, may be called "large print." Use the point size rather than the terminology when selecting a large- or giant-print Bible.
