Go to a local ski store and check out the variety of ski helmets for sale.
Step2
Try on several helmets - determine where they feel too loose or too tight on your head. The best time to check for fit is before you actually put down any money for a helmet.
Step3
Purchase a helmet that fits you fairly well. If you find that there are still places where it feels loose, you can try adding padded strips to the inside of the helmet. You can purchase padded strips of varying depths and widths. These strips are similar (sometimes identical) to those found in bike helmets.
Step4
Try your helmet on for fit again.
Step5
Cinch the chin strap.
Step6
Adjust the strap so it fits snugly under your chin. Pull or push more of the strap through the buckle, depending on what type of adjustment you need to make.
Tips & Warnings
Adjust your helmet before you go skiing or snowboarding. It's much easier to fit a helmet when you're not anxious to get on the lift.
Skiing and snowboarding are physically demanding sports that could result in serious injury. We recommend that you seek proper training and equipment before attempting these activities.
