"Whether you're trying to do a 360 off of a bottom turn or a cutback, one thing is essential, and that's speed," says Timmy Reyes, O'Neill Surf Team rider.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately challenging

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Start with a lot of speed and begin your bottom turn or cutback in the open wave face.
Step2
Keep your knees bent throughout the maneuver.
Step3
Bury your rail all the way up the face.
Step4
Release your rail at the top of the face by centering your weight over your surfboard.
Step5
Use your arms to direct your body back down the wave face.
Step6
Apply lots of tail pressure and use the lip to push you back around.
Step7
Drop back down the face and set your fins so you can drive back down the line to regain speed.

Tips & Warnings

  • "Think about carrying your speed and completing a full arc," says Timmy.
  • Surfing is a physically demanding sport that could result in serious injury. We recommend that you seek the proper training and equipment before undertaking this activity.
