Booking a heli vacation can be tricky. But like most major decisions, once you've made it, everything else falls into place.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Powder Skis
  • Ski Boots
  • Ski Clothing
  • Ski Goggles
  • Ski Poles
  • Snowboard Boots
  • Snowboards
  1. Step 1

Choose the heli-skiing company you will book with after you have completed the necessary research (see "How To Choose a Heli-Skiing Company" under Related eHows).

  2. Step 2

Plan ahead ' way ahead. Heli outfits have limited space and fill up quickly.

  3. Step 3

Compare the cost of going early, midseason or late season, as prices vary.

  4. Step 4

Prepare to part with some money up front. Most operators require a significant nonrefundable down payment.

  5. Step 5

Send in your waiver, double-checking that you've filled it out completely. You will be required to "sign your life away," and your spot will not be confirmed unless you accept the risks involved.

  6. Step 6

Put down the plastic or send in your check when you receive your final bill prior to your departure.

  7. Step 7

Consider purchasing cancellation insurance (if they offer it) in case you become ill, injured or cannot make the trip for any reason.

  8. Step 8

Call the company each step of the way to confirm your status with them.

Tips & Warnings
  • Consider booking early or late in the season if the middle of the season is booked. You may find better deals on price, and you'd be surprised how good the snow can be at odd times of the year.
  • Heli-skiing and snowboarding is extremely addictive. Be sure you know what you're getting into before it's too late to back out.
