How to Perform a Wrist Lock in Aikido
A wrist lock is an effective way to gain control in a self-defense situation. Applying painful pressure on the attacker's wrist will immobilize any further attack.
Instructions

Step back with your right foot against a right-handed punch.

Thrust out both hands as fists, left wrist on top of the right wrist.

Trap the punch between your wrists. (X-block with the left hand on top.)

Grasp the attacker's outstretched arm at the wrist with the left hand.

Hold the top of the attacker's punching fist with your right hand.

Step out at a 45-degree angle to your right with the right foot, keeping the attacker's hand in front of you.

Apply downward pressure on the attacker's hand with your right hand, throwing the attacker to the ground.

Tips & Warnings
Practice the technique with both hands to cover any possibility, but master one way first.
Keep the hands at waist level for better leverage and control.
Joint locks are extremely dangerous techniques. Be sure the practitioner who applies the technique is aware of any pain caused to the partner during practice sessions.
