If an attacker is too close for you to perform an effective punch or kick to escape, a back-fist strike to the temple may be the answer.

Make your hands into fists.

Bend the elbow of your striking arm.

Return your fist to the starting position immediately after contact.

Tips & Warnings
Target the vulnerable areas of the face, such as the temple or nose.
Use the back-fist strike as an offensive or defensive strike.
When performing the back-fist strike, be careful not to lock your elbow when extending your striking arm to full length.
