Things You'll Need:
- Grapefruits
- Herbal Teas
- Lemons
- Limes
- Oranges
- Organic Apple Juices
- Cleansing Enemas
- Enema Bags
- Niacin Tablets
- Skin Brushes
- Lemons
- Oranges
- Limes
-
Step 1
Eat lightly in the days prior to your fast. Avoid the temptation to eat a big "last supper" before you begin your fast.
-
Step 2
Plan to be near the restroom for the first day of this fast.
-
Step 3
Start your first day by drinking 1 tbsp. Epsom salts in 1/4 cup of warm water and 1/4 cup of citrus juice. This cocktail acts as a laxative to clear the way for your apple cleansing drink.
-
Step 4
Mix the juice of 6 oranges and 2 limes with 1-1/2 quarts of water and drink two cups every 1/2 hour until finished. Do the same with the juice of 6 grapefruits and 2 lemons. These juices combined with the salts should keep your bowels moving all day. Take an enema (internal bath) in the evening to finish the job.
-
Step 5
Drink your first apple cleansing drink before you go to bed on the first day of the fast.
-
Step 6
Make the apple cleansing drink by combining 1/2 cup organic apple juice, 1/3 cup of water, 1 tsp. of bentonite, 1 tsp. of whey powder and 1 heaping tsp. of psyllium (or the intestinal cleanser of your choice - atonic-spastic). Mix drink until smooth.
-
Step 7
Drink the apple cleansing drink first thing in the morning, and four more times throughout the day (equally spaced) for a total of five drinks per day.
-
Step 8
Sip on herbal teas, broths and fresh pressed juices as desired between apple cleansing drink. These extra liquids are not extra, but essential toward keeping your body properly hydrated throughout the fast.
-
Step 9
Take a minimum of two enemas each day. By the third day, the hard matter lining your colon (intestinal plaque) should begin to sufficiently loosen through continued stimulation of the enemas or colonic treatments.
-
Step 10
Expect to eliminate long (3-5 foot) ropes of impacted matter that has been hardening in your colon.
-
Step 11
Break your fast by adding oranges and carrots to your liquid diet first. Then, after a few hours, try some steamed and raw vegetables. The next day you should be ready for some simple grains and, then, in one more day, be ready to resume your normal healthy diet.

on 7/20/2009 Question for the eHow editor: what is the purpose of the whey powder in this cleanse?
Protein has no place in a thorough cleanse/fast as it is nutritive and the whole point is to allow the digestive system to rest and repair itself.
I stopped the whey on Day 3 without problems.
Have also moved from plain water enemas to a coffee enema (one cup of filter-brewed cold coffee in the enema bag, then filled with plain water) followed by a flushing epsom salts enema (2 Tbsp epsom dissolved in a bag of plain water. Dissolve salts well in a cup first before pouring into bag).
This seems to have loosened additional material.
Man, how long do we carry around this old crap?!

on 7/20/2009 Day 14 and, surprisingly, I'm not done yet!
If you have done this fast for 3 days and there is still material coming out, see if you can press on, it is so worth it. The largest amount of hardened stool was expelled on Day 10. Every single enema has produced something - never a 3-5 foot string, but 18 inches, yes. I will start a carefeul refeeding program once the enemas are clean.
Weight loss so far: 16 pounds in 2 weeks.

on 7/14/2009 .............. too much sensory input.
In general this is just a wonderfully tranquil and satisfying experience if you can take the time off work and relax into it.
Check back for the final outcome of my journey......

on 7/14/2009 Like I was saying....... to avoid that unpleasant red rashy flush feeling that lasts 15 minutes with a regular niacin (vitamin B5).
I have been sipping on herb teas and the citrus juices in the article and have spent maybe $10 on the fruit.
I get mildly hungry in the afternoon or after walking, but have only a vague sense of missing food. It's probably more the lack of social interaction around food and drink that leaves you with a lot of extra time in the day. I have gone out to a restaurant with my fiancee and sipped pineapple juice while he ate his burger and it was fine. On Day 3 I found food smells repulsive, but have moved past that and am now just amused by how much crap people eat all around me the time.
My sense of smell is acute and my senses overall have become more heightened. This is cool, but I avoid going downtown or anywhere noisy or chaotic - too much sensory inp...

on 7/14/2009 Ok....I guess there is a word limit....to continue then,
It's much clearer to follow "Day 1: Day 2: and so on.
I feel good and have had varying amounts of 'impacted waste matter' eliminated with every enema on every day of this cleanse. It is very satisfying to see my colon clean and repair itself as the days go by.
This program has all the features of an excellent cleanse: it is effective, cheap, and easy to do.
For newbies:
The enema bag (labelled on the box as a 'fountain syringe') was $9 CDN in a medical supply store - surprisingly the drug stores I went to did not carry this item any more.
The bentonite (I bought a jar of 'Redmond Clay' in the cosmetics area of a health food-type drugstore in my neighborhood) was $13.
Powdered psyllium husks, smooth texture, were $9 for a bag of 172 servings.
Get a 'no-flush' niacin (about $10) to avoid that unpleasant red rashy flush fee...
