Things You'll Need:
- Charm Rocking Horses
- Hoohobbers Wooden Rocking Horses
- Little Tikes Rocking Horses
- Pintoy Wooden Swing Rocking Horses
- Rocking Horse Accessory Set By Berchet
- Rocking Horses On Wheels
- Small World Rocking Horses
-
Step 1
Know that rocking horses come in traditional wooden models as well as new plastic models.
-
Step 2
Understand that rocking horses will be enjoyed by children aged 18 months to about 5 years, depending on the size of the one you buy.
-
Step 3
Expect to pay between $20 and $200 for a rocking horse, depending on the material it is made of and the craftsmanship involved.
-
Step 4
Consider buying a swing rocking horse, like the Wooden Swing Horse by Pintoy ($60). This type of horse is mounted on a glider mechanism and is very easy for a child to maneuver.
-
Step 5
Look at plastic models such as the Little Tikes Rocking Horse ($20) if you want something inexpensive and durable.
-
Step 6
Notice that some rocking horses come with plush bodies, like a big stuffed animal on a rocker. The huggable Horse on Wheels by Pluti ($130) comes with a plush body and wheels instead of a rocker.
-
Step 7
Observe the details involved in wooden rocking horses. Some have real leather saddles and bridles, like the Small World Toys Rocking Horse ($150). Horses with these details will be more expensive than those that are just wooden horses.
-
Step 8
Pick out a horse that has a face and mane you think the child will like.
-
Step 9
Determine if the horse you order will come assembled.
-
Step 10
Order a rocking horse from the list below or from your favorite online or local toy store.

on 1/25/2009 I ordered my rocking horse from Back Creek on Oct 20th 2008 and paid in full the same day. It was a Christmas gift for my nephew and (ED) said that it would be no problem. As of January 19th 2009, still no rocking horse and all I keep getting are excuses for why it isn't here yet. I would NEVER NEVER NEVER

on 8/8/2006 Back Creek Rocking Horse Company is the best. They custom make the horse starting with the mane to the music. The people are friendly and helpful.

on 3/26/2006 They are just fabulous for sure! I get to pick all my colors and music. They also branded it with my child's name and birthday. And then included a copy of their book, autographed by the author! It was a great experience and my daughter loves her horse!
