PageMaker 6.0 and 6.5 let you determine tracking, or the spacing between letters and words, in your PageMaker documents. Loose tracking lightens a page because there is more space between the letters and words. Tight tracking darkens a page because there is less space between letters and words. Tracking is also helpful in fitting text into a specific amount of space.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • PageMaker 6.5 (Mac OS)
  • PageMaker 6.5 (Windows)
  1. Step 1

Select the text where you want to change the tracking.

  2. Step 2

Go to the Type menu and select Expert Tracking.

  3. Step 3

Select one of the six tracks in the drop-down menu.

Tips & Warnings
  • Experiment with the six tracks until you find the one that works best in your document.
  • No Track is the PageMaker default setting; when you select this track, no tracking is applied and the spacing the font uses is applied to the text.
  • Normal tracking increases spacing for small-point type and decreases it for large-point type.
