Both PageMaker 6.0 and 6.5 provide different indent formats that you can use in your PageMaker documents. You can also use a hanging indent, in which the first line of a paragraph extends into the left margin, "hanging" out over the rest of the paragraph.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • PageMaker 6.5 (Mac OS)
  • PageMaker 6.5 (Windows)

Indenting a Paragraph

Step1
Choose the Text tool, and then go to the page where you want to create a new block of indented text.
Step2
Enter the text you want to indent, and then select it or select an existing block of text.
Step3
Go to the Type menu and select Paragraph.
Step4
Enter a number in the Left Indents box (in inches or millimeters, depending on how your document is set up) to indent the left edge of each line in the paragraph to the right on the page.
Step5
Enter a number in the First Indents box to move the left edge of the first line in the paragraph to the right on the page.
Step6
Enter a number in the Right Indents box to move the right edge of each line in the paragraph to the left on the page.

Creating a Hanging Indent

Step1
Select the paragraph you want to have a hanging indent.
Step2
Enter a number in the Left Indents box to move all of the lines in the paragraph to the right on the page.
Step3
Enter the negative value of this number in the First Indents box to move the first line of the paragraph to the left on the page, so that it hangs out over the rest of the lines in the paragraph.
