Sometimes you may want to include only a portion of a graphic in your document. Cropping is a photographic term. When you crop a graphic, rather than resizing it, you cut out the part of the graphic that you don't want included.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • PageMaker 6.5 (Mac OS)
  • PageMaker 6.5 (Windows)

Step1
Use the Place command to insert a graphic in your document; don't use the graphic placeholder for the graphic. Place the graphic in the document free of any frames on the page.
Step2
Select the Crop tool in the toolbar.
Step3
Use the Crop tool to select the graphic so that you can see the sizing handles around the graphic.
Step4
Drag any sizing handle inward to crop out a specific part of the graphic.
Step5
Undo cropping by dragging the sizing handle outward in the opposite direction.

Tips & Warnings

  • Using the Crop tool takes a bit of practice. Try cropping a test graphic until you feel comfortable cropping graphics.
