You can change the size (width) of columns in PageMaker 6.0 and 6.5 documents to adjust your page layout.

Difficulty: Moderately challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • PageMaker 6.5 (Mac OS)
  • PageMaker 6.5 (Windows)
  1. Step 1

Go to the page containing the columns you want to resize.

  2. Step 2

Select the Pointer tool in the toolbar.

  3. Step 3

Hold down the mouse button and position the Pointer tool over one of the column lines.

  4. Step 4

When the Pointer tool looks like a two-headed arrow, drag the column guide into the position you want it. Let go of the mouse button when the column guide is in position.

  5. Step 5

Resize the text box and any graphics within the newly resized column and within the other columns on the page.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can also go to the Layout menu and select Column Guides and numerically resize the columns called Space Between. But this increases or decreases the space between the columns, so it's a more awkward way to resize. To retain PageMaker's default spacing between columns, it's better to drag the column guide into position as described above.
