"In the Holmes vs. Cooney fight I witnessed pure agony. Holmes got hit really low and hard," recalls Nevada district judge and pro boxing referee, Judge Mills Lane.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Move your feet like a boxer to stay in good viewing position.

  2. Step 2

Watch for the low hooks or upper cuts.

  3. Step 3

Ask yourself if the guy looks like he's in agony or just dazed.

  4. Step 4

Give the low-blow recipient the 5-minute recuperation period.

  5. Step 5

Enforce the "fight or lose" rule after the recoup period is up.

Tips & Warnings
  • "The cups they wear these days are so protective it really needs a hit from below. Most low blows aren't really debilitating," notes Lane. You'll want to take his word on that.
