How to Format a Microsoft Access Table Field

You can add background colors and grids to your Access fields, and add special text effects. These instructions apply to MS Access 97.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

    Open your table in Datasheet view.

  2. Step 2

    From the Format window, select Cells. A window opens.

  3. Step 3

    Use the window to select horizontal and vertical grids, change the grid color, change the background color and change the way the cells are displayed (flat, raised or sunken).

  4. Step 4

    Click OK.

  5. Step 5

    Use Format Row Height and Format Column Width to change the height of rows and cells.

  6. Step 6

    Click OK.

  7. Step 7

    Save your table.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can also change the size, color, type and style of the fonts used.
