Just like a bold necklace can make an outfit, a statement centerpiece can pull your table together for any holiday or celebration. And learning how to tailor it to each season or holiday is an invaluable skill to have.

Things You'll Need

  • Clear glass vase
  • Plastic cup
  • Floral foam
  • Cinnamon sticks (See tip below for other seasonal filler ideas)
  • Flowers and greenery
  • Faux branches
  • Garden shears or scissors

Tip

  • Cinnamon sticks, peppermint sticks and cranberries are great for fall and winter. Lemon and lime slices are great during the summertime. You can even tailor the fillers for specific holidays — heart candies for Valentine's Day or mini eggs for Easter.

Step 1: Gather Your Supplies

Choose a vase filler that coordinates with the season you are decorating for, such as cinnamon sticks during the winter holidays. Use an assortment of fresh flowers and greenery for the arrangement.

Step 5: Add the Flowers and Greenery

Add the flowers to the vase by inserting them into the foam starting with the largest flowers first then working your way to the smallest flowers.

Add the greenery, such as eucalyptus or evergreen, and faux branches and berries last.

Tip

  • As you add your flowers, turn the vase around so you can see all sides to make sure the flowers are evenly spaced. Use extra greenery to fill in any gaps.
