Break the sections of the fruit open in the bowl of water.

  6. Step 6

Allow the seed kernels to separate from the rind and sink to the bottom.

  7. Step 7

Discard the rind and drain the kernels.

  8. Extract the Juice

  9. Step 1

Press the fruit against a countertop.

  10. Step 2

Roll it back and forth to break open the kernels and release the juice.

  11. Step 3

Puncture or cut the pomegranate to squeeze the juice out.

Tips & Warnings
  • Another method is to blend seeds in a blender or food processor, and drain the juice through cheesecloth.
  • Be careful where you cut and eat the fruit - the juice stains.

on 11/22/2005 Cut the pomegranate in half, hold one half over a plate and bash the shell with a wooden spoon. The seeds will come out. No more tedious picking out with a cocktail stick!
