Making your Instagram private stops unauthorized parties from gaining access to your posts and photos. On devices running the Google Android operating system, you can control your Instagram privacy settings via Instagram's Edit Your Profile screen. After you enable privacy in Instagram, users must send you a follow request to be added to your followers so that they can view your profile and photos.
Tap the "Instagram" application icon on the home screen of your Android device to launch the Instagram application.
Tap the "Profile" button. The Profile button is located at the right end of the main horizontal menu bar in Instagram for Android.
Tap the "Edit Your Profile" link located next to your profile picture.
Scroll down on the Edit Your Profile page and place a check mark in the "Posts Are Private" check box.
