Freshly prepared spanakopita, with its layers of flaky, buttery phyllo dough surrounding savory spinach and cheese, is a classic Greek appetizer. Although you'll find the most authentic versions in traditional Greek restaurants and homes, you can pick up frozen versions from most grocery stores. While it doesn't quite compare, when you can't get to a Greek restaurant, or take the time to prepare it from scratch, the frozen version is an alternative that is ready in minutes.
Things You'll Need
- Frozen spanakopita
- Butter, melted
- Pastry brush
- Baking sheet
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Spread the frozen spanakopita on a baking sheet and brush the tops with melted butter using a pastry brush.
Place the spanakopita in the oven and bake for 20 to 25 minutes, until golden brown. Cool slightly on a cooling rack before serving.
Tips & Warnings
