Shuffling, or randomizing the play order of, an album or playlist is a common way to keep your music collection less repetitive. By shuffling music you are no longer forced to multiple songs in the order listed. While you may be accustomed to shuffling music on an Apple iPod, that task is a bit more obscure on an iPad as the feature is hidden in the Music app.

Shuffling all Songs on an iPad

  • Tap the “Music" app on your iPad to open the music program.

  • Tap the “Songs” tab located in the bottom left corner of your screen to sort all of the songs stored on the iPad alphabetically.

  • Place your finger anywhere on the songs list and swipe down to reveal the Shuffle icon.

  • Tap the “Shuffle” icon to shuffle the songs in your list.

Shuffling Songs within an Album

  • Tap the “Music" app on your iPad.

  • Tap the “Albums Tab” to display all of the albums on your iPad.

  • Tap an “Album Cover” to go into full screen mode; then double-tap the “Album” to flip it over for the song list.

  • Tap the “Shuffle” button that appears in the upper right hand corner to shuffle only the songs on that particular album.

Tips & Warnings

  • The Genius Playlist feature available from the Music app will intelligently shuffle songs for you easily based upon your set preferences or recent listening habits. Tap the Genius icon in the bottom left corner of the screen to activate the program.
  • The Music app comes pre-loaded on your iPad.
