Leave your heavy winter coat at home when you're planning a trip to Miami. This south Florida city's subtropical climate ensures warm weather all year long -- as well as the constant threat of rain. When you're packing your bags, include clothes for the dramatically different day and night scenes, and don't forget your sunscreen.

Packing for Miami Days

If you're planning to hit the beach in Miami, you'll need little more than a bathing suit, flip-flops, a hat and some good reading material. The days will be warm, so pack your shorts, T-shirts, sundresses and other summer clothing. Pack an umbrella or a rain jacket as well, especially if you're visiting during the spring or fall, when rain is likely. Pack for your plans -- Miami has gorgeous golf courses that might require your clubs.

Packing for Miami Nights

Casual days change to fashionable nights in Miami. According to Elle.com, bright colors are a must in South Beach; if you're planning to experience some spicy Miami nightlife, you can expect a dress code. Nightclubs will require slacks; dress shirts; dresses, nice pants or skirts; and dress shoes. If you're not sure, it doesn't hurt to err on the side of overdressing when you pack. Jeans and sneakers will get you turned away at the door.
