The Metropolitan is a 50cc scooter sold in the United States by Honda since 2002. The Honda Metropolitan is primarily known for its reliability and retro styling. Replacing the battery in your Metropolitan only takes about 15 minutes and can be done by almost anyone.

Step 1

Park your scooter on level ground and engage the center stand for support. Turn the engine off.

Step 2

Open your seat to access the maintenance lid. Pull back the two tabs to release the maintenance lid, and then set it aside.

Step 3

Loosen the nut to remove the negative battery cable, and then remove the positive battery cable.

Step 4

Detach the rubber strap securing the battery, and then remove the mounting bracket.

Step 5

Slide the old battery out and set it aside. Mount the new battery and replace the bracket and rubber strap.

Step 6

Replace the positive battery cable (+) first, and then replace the negative (-) battery cable. Pop the maintenance lid back on and lower the seat.
