A skier with extra Alpine skis can save money by converting old boards into telemark skis.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Epoxy
  • Ski Clothing
  • Telemark Ski Equipment
  • Slotted Screwdrivers
  1. Step 1

Choose a pair of Alpine skis you want to convert.

  2. Step 2

Unscrew the Alpine bindings and take all pieces of the binding off the ski.

  3. Step 3

Check that there are two or less sets of screw holes already drilled into the ski. This means the skis have not been mounted more than twice with different bindings.

  4. Step 4

Fill in the old screw holes with epoxy or a similar adhesive.

  5. Step 5

    Let the adhesive dry overnight.

  6. Step 6

Select a pair of telemark bindings.

  7. Step 7

Mount the bindings on the new skis.

Tips & Warnings
  • Select a pair of alpine skis that are still in relatively good shape.
  • Attempting to repeatedly switch bindings or redrill binding holes will cause the skis to lose their integrity. Switch bindings and re-drill holes less than three times for a pair of skis.
