Things You'll Need:
- Gaiters
- Kneepads
- Ski Clothing
- Telemark Ski Equipment
- Telemark Ski Retaining Straps
- Telemark Ski Skins
- Kneepads
-
Step 1
Buy a pair of kneepads to protect those dropped knees from stray stones (do this once and you'll understand). A pair that fits under ski pants provides the most maneuverability.
-
Step 2
Select a clothing system to use as you would for Alpine skiing or other winter activities. This includes a waterproof outer layer, warm middle layer, polypropelene underwear, socks, gloves and a hat.
-
Step 3
Consider buying gaiters to attach from your boots to below your knees. These will keep snow out of your boots.
-
Step 4
Get a pair of sunglasses or goggles to protect your eyes from sun, wind and snow.
-
Step 5
Keep yourself hydrated with a backpack hydration system. Many companies make special hydration systems to fit under a coat while skiing.
-
Step 6
Buy some skins to climb uphill if you are planning on going off-piste.
-
Step 7
Buy a pair of ski-retaining straps to prevent runaway skis at resorts.
