The iPhone is able to rotate the screen into landscape mode when you rotate the iPhone on either the left or right side. However, portrait mode is only enabled when the phone is oriented such that the home button is facing down. The standard iPhone does not enable a complete 180 degree rotation if you flip the phone over. However, with a jailbroken iPhone, you can install a modification called UpsideDown which will enable you to view your iPhone in portrait mode when it is upside down.
Things You'll Need
- UpsideDown jailbreak modification
Launch Cydia on your jailbroken iPhone and search for "UpsideDown."
Tap the name of the application in the search results and tap "Install" then "Confirm."
Tap "Restart Springboard" when the installation completes.
Test the modification by launching an application such as Mail to view email. Rotate your phone so that it is upside down (with the home button at the top); the screen rotates into portrait mode.
